I
have spruced myself green all year
I have not let myself go gray,
I wait in the cold for a family dear
To take me home for Xmas Day.
One by one my 'firry' friends are gone
To have their share of laughter,
While I stand here alone and forlorn
Shivering in the snowy weather.
I long to be decked with shiny baubles,
Ornaments and twinkle lights,
Crowned with a star and hosts of angels
And wear red candy delights.
Presents, at my feet wrapped and tied
With ribbons, big and small,
Warm glowing fireplace at my side
Stockings hanging on the wall.
I look down to see four smiling children
They want me decked in the hall,
Going to take a ride in a station wagon
Having a merry Xmas after all.
