Halloween Fright-Night (onomatopoeia)

Clink and clank of metallic bones
A rattle of rusty chains,
Whish and whoosh of ghostly drapes
A thump on quivering panes,
Clattering hooves of neighing horses
Whack and whip on flanks,
Thudding hearts, chattering teeth
Whoops of triumphant pranks,
Murmur and chants at secret covens
A giggle, an eek and a cry,
Crackle of twigs over flickering fire
It’s the wind that whizzes by.

Pumpkins are squished, cats purr,
Dogs sniff and bark,
Noises that go bump in the night
Cars that honk in the park,
Thunder rumbles, booms and claps
Lightning zip-zaps in the sky,
Children knock for trick-or-treat
Ghosts rustle, boo or sigh,
Witches screech, vampires drip
Werewolves bay and growl,
Halloween fright night is a bash,
The unknown’s on the prowl.

Onomatopoeia - Words made from "sounds"

All Hallows' Eve (Rhyme Royal)

A walk through woods upon All Hallows' Eve,
At summer’s end and ere long winter’s chill,
The sun goes down without a by-your-leave,
A snap of twigs and startled heart stands still,
A lustrous orb appears above the hill,
The harvest moon in splendid gold arrayed,
It sparkles bright on meadow, brook and glade.

"Halloween", "Moonlight", "Moonlight walk", "Night Walk" "Walk in the dark"

Within the woods a sphere of light invades,
And shapes become distinct as they draw near,
A smell of rotting flesh, the air, pervades,
And chilling screams are heard to deaf the ear,
While I, behind a tree, doth quake with fear,
If only I be somewhere else in time,
Away from sounds and smells of grime and slime.

"Halloween Night", "Forest Night" "Ghouls", "Ghouls in the dark", "Scary Forest", "Scary Ghouls", "Ghost"

In town the fun is getting under way,
As children dress themselves in costumes grand,
The jack o’ lanterns which illume like day,
Are cut-out pumpkins gently carved by hand,
While there, the scene depicts enchanted land,
The witches, ghouls and ghosts in tatters all,
Do gather here to have their yearly ball.

Beware! It's Halloween (Minute)

Mid autumn's night, vampires moan
And lick and groan
They sit and dine
On blood and wine.

"Dracula", "Vampire Cape" "Halloween" "Scary Vampire"Before the moon is dimmed or gone
It’s time to don
Their capes from hell
To snarl and yell.

So when the beasts are in the hall
Don’t dare to call
Stay far from death
With garlic breath.

The Reaper's Ride

The motorcyclist zooms in and out,
he rides dangerously fast,
Like a daredevil from hell he tears by,
the wind whizzes past,
The reaper is out to get the cool guy,
the die has been cast,
Though that guy has luck on his side,
it is not going to last,
Although it seems he is getting away,
one day he'll bite the dust.

"Reaper" "Motor" "Motorbike" "Motorcycle" "Motorcyclist" "Reaper out to get the Motorcyclist"

The reaper floats by the biker’s side,
he is ready to strike,
Has to get his job done and move on,
a job he may not like,
He knows he doesn’t have to wait long
for a guy on a fast bike,
Ain't like a sick old man, a tough nut
who’d yell ‘take a hike’,
A young and reckless teen is easy bait,
he’s just a little tike.

"Reaper" "Motor" "Motorbike" "Motorcycle" "Motorcyclist" "Reaper out to get the Motorcyclist"

The reaper watches, biding his time,
his scythe in his hand,
The guy not knowing his life is short,
his ways he doesn’t mend,
"Reaper" "Motor" "Motorbike" "Motorcycle" "Motorcyclist" "Reaper out to get the Motorcyclist" "Halloween"Then one night racing with his friends,
he speeds round a bend, In the glare of the oncoming car he sees
the reaper make his stand,
Too late, as his past flashes before him,
his time comes to an end.

A Storm of Greek Gods

"Greek" "God" "War" "God War" "Battle" "Greek God Battle" "God Battle"

Apollo with his long golden mane of sun rays
And Helios, the god of light with a radiant face,
Knew it was time to stay away for they did see
Gods gather; that Poseidon from the sea set free.

"Greek" "God" "Apollo" "Poseidon" "Helios"

Battle games across the skies the gods planned
For King Zeus and his Hera to watch entranced,
An hour, a day or a week the tempest could run
Athena, of justice, she’d decide the victory won.

"Greek" "God" "Athena" "Zeus" "Hera" "Zeus and Hera"

Aeolus, king of the winds, tethered his four reins
Boreaus, Notus, Eurus and Zephyrus, in restrain,
Strong winds that were keenly wresting to blow
Fearful havoc on the puny human beings below.

"Greek" "God" "Aeolus"

Anemoi, violent storm demons joined in the fray
Hecatroncheires, gods of hurricanes also did play,
Cyclops, forger of lightning and thunder was ready
With his blades of steel and roar he stood steady.

The demons unleashed their wrath round the world
The gods laughed in glee as fury and rage unfurled.
As Ouranos, in the sky turned it black and dreary
Gaia, his consort, of earth, lay helpless in his fury.

'Greek" "God" "Ouranos" "Gaia"

The creatures below the soil croaked and cried
In defiance, fear or thanks it was hard to decide,
The feeble humans tottered on legs frail and weak
As trees were felled and rooftops began to leak.

"Greek God Battle" "Fight" "Poseidon Attack"

A few days later the gods and demons grew tired
Aurae, gentle nymphs breezed by, the storm abated,
The cloud nymphs, Nephelae, let rain fall on earth
For goddesses of fertility to nurture plants with birth.

"Greek" "God" "Nephelae"

Iris painted beams of colour with Helios’ sunlight
As Nyx waited nearby to draw her curtains of night,
Where was Thor, god of thunder, his might sought
As god of the Norsemen he was in the lands up north.

"Greek" "God" "Nyx" "Iris" "Thor"

God's Creation (ABC)

A piercing ray of illumination
Blessed line, strong and unbroken
Cast upon the spherical collection
Darkness soon to be abandoned
The Almighty plans His wondrous creation.

"Rising Sun" "Sun and the ocean" Sun Wallpaper

Endless bounded watery accumulation
Fermenting rage of explosive oceans
Gathered in one volatile position
Heading towards separate directions
Sea and land, He directs to make an appearance.

"waves", "water and sand", "waves separating the land"

Interesting plants on dry terrain
Juicy fruits, succulent sensation
Kosher grains, glorious manifestation
Limitless oxygen-filled forestation
Yahweh continues creating with scientific deliberation.

"forest"

Moon and sun to rule the firmament
Night and day to mark equal separation
Opulent stars to spread across the heavens
Precise time to indicate years and seasons
The Omnipotent deliberates with logical reasons.

"Day and Night" "world separated to day and night"

Quixotic creatures make flying appearance
Roaming land animals gentle and violent
Sea monsters with fluid swimming precision
To reproduce in numbers His key direction
Jehovah sees what He does is marvelously excellent.

"animals fantasy"

Utmost power to a life-form must be given
Victorious over all the creatures in existence,
Walking the land, praising, living in obedience
Xeroxed in His image, He breathes life into humans

The Month of Hungry Ghosts

It’s the seventh month of the lunar year:

The stage is set, the audience gathers round,
opera singers wail a plaintiff melodious sound,
The sloe-eyed actor, in bright-costumed glory,
with puckered scarlet lips, he weaves a story.

It’s the time when the dead become the undead,
wandering in the world causing fear and dread,
Clothes left out at dusk are much-sought attire,
for souls to take the shape of a human nature.

Food and drink are left to satisfy their hunger,
they’ve missed much in their world thereafter,
Prayers uttered and candles lit to show the way,
a lost soul may refuse to go, it’d rather stay.

If you feel a gust of wind rattle your door-knob,
or hear voices that plead with wrenching sobs,
Let us in they say, it is freezing cold out here,
keep still, for it is your warm blood they desire.

"ghost at your doorstep"

The gates of Hades are open for them to be free,
go about your daily business, leave them be,

This month, kind humans, give them their rights,
you take the day, let them rule the nights.
