Lunar
new year is here
to herald spring,
Buds, leaves and shoots
new life they bring,
On the eve, there's a
sumptuous dinner treat,
The family gathers round
to talk shop and eat.
Every food or fruit taken
has a ‘luck’ sound,
So that prosperity reigns
the whole year round.
The old ones watch the
young, as they have fun,
Glad in the knowledge
their name is carried on.
Red is the colour you see
in all nooks and places,
On lanterns, hungry dragons
and gorgeous dresses.
Brooms are hidden from sight,
no work is done,
It's the day these industrious people,
let their hair down.
